What Will You Reflect This Week?

“Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.” Philippians 1:27

In grade school we used to get conduct grades on our report cards. Our teachers evaluated our behavior and how we respected her and conducted ourselves around other students.

If someone were grading your conduct today at home with your family and at your workplace, what would your grade be?

If someone were to take a snapshot of your conduct, what would your snapshot reflect?

How we live matters. Paul encourages us to conduct ourselves in a manner “worthy of the gospel of Christ.” Philippians 1:27. What kind of conduct is worthy of the gospel of Christ?

When you proclaim you are authentic followers of Christ, people watch and listen to what you say and do. Are you wasting your conduct? Are you living in a way that is “worthy of the gospel of Christ?”

Those who watch us will be looking to see if we live with honor. Do we show respect for our military fighting men and women? Do we love our country and celebrate our freedom as the greatest nation on earth? Do we esteem our children and our families? Do we live with integrity and honesty in our relations towards others?

Another thing others observe and hope to see us reflect is consistency. If we act congenial and personable one day, then selfish and cranky on other days, we reflect double-mindedness. Not consistency. Paul says in Romans 12:18, “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” Consistence means we don’t bend to the lusts of the world. Instead we maintain a steady, honorable demeanor reflecting grace, integrity and truth at all times.

Devotion is another character trait people should see us reflect. Devotion means selfless affection towards others. It means being dedicated to values that reflect our love of Christ and love of others. Unwavering loyalty to a Christ-centered work ethic, devotion to our families, devotion to our neighbors and others in our sphere of influence.

Will the snapshot someone takes of you this week reflect your focus? Will your focus reflect God’s purpose in your life, even if your life is a train wreck? Will your purpose reflect your unlimited potential as a child of the Almighty God?

What will you reflect?

PRAYER: Father, I will face challenges this week. I will also have ample opportunities to reflect your love and grace towards others. O God, help me reflect honor, consistency and devotion to those who observe me in relationship this week. I pray that my conduct will always reflect character and integrity worthy of the gospel of Christ. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen
