Follow Me

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”

When Jesus called his disciples they obeyed without a moment’s hesitation. The Bible tells us they followed Him “immediately!” When we read what they did we recognize a few things.

First, we recognize that their decision was immediate. They did not hesitate. They left their jobs, their families, their friends, their hometowns to obey the voice of Jesus. They did not complain, they did not make excuses. They did not question why they had been chosen. God touched the right men He wanted to use at the right time in the right place. And they obeyed.

The second thing we understand is that He called fishermen to be fishers of men. He used their natural gifts and talents, the gifts God gave them to fulfill His purpose for their lives. He used who they were, how He made them, how He equipped them.

God has called each of us, just like Jesus called Peter and Andrew, and James and John and the rest, to fulfill His purpose for our lives at the right place, in the right way, at the right time.

Follow Me and I will make you teachers of men. I will make you servers. I will make you encouragers, ushers, givers, prayers, singers, greeters, cooks, evangelizers, tithers.

He has called each of us to this place, as Mordecai told Esther, “And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

Our One Heart family has been called by God for such a time as this. Each of us must ask ourselves, “When He calls me, will I go where He sends me? Will I commit to obeying God and respond immediately?

Our answers to those two questions will determine how effectively the One Heart family, at such a time as this, will impact Norcross, Atlanta, our state and our world for Christ.

Father, we thank you that you have called us to follow you. O God, give us the convictions of our hearts that we will be just like Peter and Andrew and the other true disciples of Christ and follow you with one heart and without hesitation. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.
