An Intentional Faith

We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9

Pain is inevitable when we pursue God’s purpose for our lives. Sometimes the pain is unspeakable, tragic and life-shattering.

When we feel unspeakable pain or a broken heart, often our tendency is to ask ourselves, “How can I fix this so I won’t feel this heartache anymore?” The truth is we can’t fix it. We can’t control it. The only “fix” for us as authentic followers of Christ is to respond in the way God intended–with intentional faith.

We can have confidence beyond any tragedy in life that He is there. His grace will meet you beyond any tragedy we ever feel. If we give our heart to Him we will find grace beyond our affliction and thankfulness beyond our worst painful brokenness.

If we will focus on Jesus and give our hearts to Him in the midst of our pain and tragedy, He will renew us and give us the grace to endure. In the midst of life’s pain and tragedy we must always remember that God is with us and there is an eternal purpose we may never see or understand in the things we go through here on earth.

PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, help us remember that the best place to be in times of excruciating pain and suffering is in your presence. Help us remember, O Lord, that You are always with us. Give us an intentional faith that will abide with us. Help us have confidence beyond any broken heart that You are there. Help us remember these truths about You, O Lord. That we might always turn our hearts towards You any time we face pain and tragedy in our lives here on earth. Help us remember that our momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen
