Your Vision

” ‘Come now, and let us reason together’ says the Lord. ‘If you consent and obey, you will eat the best of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.’ Truly the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” Isaiah 1:18a,19,20

Do you know your vision for your life? Do you know God’s vision for your life? God wants the very best for your life. And He knows what that is. We get in trouble when we start believing that we know better what’s better for us than God does.

Sometimes we put our vision for us ahead of God’s vision for us. We can take three steps to insure that we have a clear vision of God’s vision for us.

1. Refuse to rebel — Rebellion ruins relationships. If we become disloyal and lack discipline in our lives, we personify the rebellion in our lives. In Isaiah 1 we see that God was angry at His people for their disloyalty and lack of discipline. “I have had enough,” He tells them. “Bring your worthless offerings no more.”

2. Receive His Instruction — If we listen to the instructions we receive from God, and determine to follow them in obedience, we will realize the awesome potential we have in our lives to do what God wants us to do.

3. Submit to God’s authority — When we realize that God’s vision for us includes the very best God has to offer, then we can choose to submit willingly to His authority in our lives. As we submit our lives to God we can realize our full potential. When we don’t submit we discover something. We can never reach our full potential if we don’t fully submit our lives and our wills to God.

If we will refuse to rebel, receive God’s instruction and submit to God’s authority something amazing will happen in our lives.

PRAYER: O God, sometimes we think we know what’s best for us. We cast a vision for ourselves full of our desires and dreams. Help us today, Lord, to submit to your will and authority. And keep us from rebelling against your will, Father, so our vision for ourselves will be your vision for us. In Jesus precious name we pray. Amen.
