Destined for Victory
Can I win in this life? For some of you this might be an interesting question right now? But I can assure you that we have all asked this question at some point in our lives. We all deal with “things.” Momentary defeat steals our long-term perspective. Doubt disables our direction in life and deception rules a defeated heart.
What does the Bible say about this? Can we have victory? Look at the following three verses with me.
In John 16:33 Jesus shares a tremendous promise. “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me You may have peace. In the world you have tribulation but take courage; I have overcome the world.” This verse shows us some principles that apply to our hearts related to victory. We see that peace is a precious gift and that tribulation is an indication of our relationship to Jesus. Courage is our ability to fight while facing obstacles and overcoming is the affirmation of living in His victory! Remember this, an overcomer looks at life through the finished work of the cross. That allows a victory mindset!
I John 4:4 says, “You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” This verse affords us assurances to direct our hearts. We understand the greatness of Jesus in our lives. We know that salvation is an ever-present source of affirmation and that faith is our day to day plan for living. Also notice that 1 John 5:4-5 says, “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith.”
II Corinthians 2:14 says, “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place.” Finally, this verse gives us a glimpse of commitment to anchor our hearts! We must position our lives in gratitude, and we must NEVER let defeat define us.
We win when we live by principles, walk in assurance and commit to Jesus!
