Arriving at Courage – Boldness (Hebrews 10:19-25) – Gearl Spicer
What is the boldest step you have ever taken? Boldness is moving with supernatural confidence and conviction that He is guiding every step!
Let’s look at a few scriptures related to boldness as we begin. Ephesians 3:11-12 says, “This was in accordance with the eternal purpose which He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him”
Philippians 1:19-20 says, “…for I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will not be put to shame in anything, but that with all boldness, Christ will even now, as always, be exalted In my body, whether by life or death.”
Finally, Acts 4:31 says, “And when they had prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the Word of God with boldness.”
Our main text today is found in Hebrews 10:19-25. Take a minute to read those verses. We can see very clearly that the writer of Hebrews wants us to see a new and living way of boldness in our lives. Verse 22 speaks of faith and asks us to draw near to God. We should have a pure heart with full assurance and complete confidence. Verse 23 speaks of the hope we have by holding fast to the things of God. We should not waver, and we should anchor ourselves in assurance. This shows us the faithfulness of God.
Finally, verse 24 asks us to consider how we can show love to all. We must motivate people to impact and we must focus on encouraging one another!
Let me leave you with two more scriptures and a question for the week. “Therefore, do note throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.” Hebrews 10:35 “Therefore, let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16
How bold will you be?
