Are You Equipped?

“Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct.” Hebrews 13:1

Are you equipped to live an effective life for Jesus? As authentic followers of Jesus, being equipped means we are prepared for a level of expertise we could never achieve on our own.

One way we become equipped is to learn from the Godly people who invest their lives in ours. People who are willing to invest their time, talents, friendship and prayers in us. That person might be a pastor or small group leader or neighbor or a good friend at church. A good way to insure we are living a wise and effective life for Christ is to listen to them and observe how God works in their lives. They will model Christ, speak the Word of God to you and encourage you to study the Scripture.

The writer of Hebrews warns us, “Do not be carried about with various strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with fools which have not profited those who have occupied with them.” Hebrews 13:9.

If you have a Godly friend investing themselves in your life they will tell you the truth even when you don’t want to hear it and show you grace when you don’t deserve it. That’s the best friend you could ever have. Their Godly counsel may be painful at times, but it’s right.

Prayer: Father, thank you for those Godly friends in our lives who love us enough to invest their lives in ours. And thank you, O God, for sending Jesus to love us unconditionally, to live in us, to be our very best friend and to equip us for doing Your will.
